How Our Employees Stay Safe During Their Time Off

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced all of us to rethink our best practices, and even many of the choices that we make on a daily basis. It can be a stressful, trying time, but we are proud to work hard at ensuring COVID-19 compliance in Minnesota is the top priority for all of our trusted employees. We work to train them on all recommended practices and supply them with all of the necessary equipment they need during working hours, but at the same time we want them to feel empowered to protect themselves in their private lives as well.

With this in mind, we encourage our employees to always take vacations and the other time they need off to recharge their batteries. Here are some of the practices we’re encouraging to keep them safe on and off the clock.

Make a plan

Our drivers are on the road for days at a time. This is the very nature of being a transit company, and we are proud that our hiring practices have ensured we have the best people in the business behind the wheels of our vehicles. On top of that, we work hard to train them on a regular basis to make sure they never feel at a loss of what to do should they encounter a risky situation. We keep them supplied with PPE at all times, and of course encourage them to use these supplies in their personal lives as well to ensure their families always feel safe and protected.

Ultimately, COVID-19 compliance in Minnesota does not end when a driver clocks out, and we are proud that the team at K-Way Express, Inc. is empowered to continue these practices when they head home.

Follow best practices and guidelines

While our best scientific and medical minds still have much to learn about this disease, the fact of the matter is that they have been able to give us some guidelines to encourage COVID-19 compliance in Minnesota. Working to keep our employees up to speed on these best practices is our absolute top priority. These include such efforts as social distancing and avoiding personal contact with others if at all possible. These lessons are just as applicable during work and after, so our drivers can continue to follow these recommended guidelines at home and on the road.

Clean and disinfect

If you’re going to effectively combat COVID-19, one of the best things you can do is clean frequently and thoroughly disinfect surfaces. We encourage our drivers to disinfect their hands, in particular, primarily before eating, after putting on face coverings and when they enter or leave the cab. Our drivers can make a habit of these practices, which will keep them safe at home as well.

Our drivers are some of the best in the industry, and we are thrilled at how our entire operation has responded to these unprecedented times. At K-Way Express, Inc., our level of service has never let up, and we are proud to continue working with our customers through the pandemic and beyond.
